From Dung to Depo: The History of Reproductive Rights
NOTE: This is an archive of our 2002 website. For current information, please see our updated site for 2003. The Australian Reproductive Health Alliance (ARHA) is a non-overnment organisation whose major function is to monitor the Australian Government's response to the Cairo Plan of Action, which was the outcome of the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development. Within this context, the core of ARHAs mission statement is to promote public support for enhancement of the status of women and reproductive health rights both in Australia and internationally. ARHA is also committed to provision of education and advocacy on issues related to sustainable development, population and the environment. ARHA maintains strong links with national advocacy programs in other developed countries through its involvement with EURONGO (a network of reproductive rights advocacy organisations in Europe, Canada and New Zealand) and a similar forum - APA/ICPD - covering the Asia/Pacific region. The Alliance also acts as the secretariat to the Australian All Party Parliamentary Group on Population and Development.
