Catherine King MHR, Member for Ballarat, Parliament of Australia Catherine King, 36, the youngest of six children, was educated in Catholic Primary and Secondary schools and undertook her undergraduate tertiary education at Phillip Institute of Technology. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master in Public Policy from the Australian National University. Catherine commenced her career in Ballarat with the Ballarat Children's Home and Family Services, where she spent five years working with young people and their families. In 1991 Catherine won the Victorian Young Achiever of the Year Award (Community Service) for her work in the Ballarat community. Since then Catherine has worked as an electorate officer and a policy adviser, to the Parliamentary Secretary to the then Prime Minister, the Hon. Paul Keating MP. Catherine was elected to Federal Parliament in November 2001, and represents the Federal electorate of Ballarat. Catherine lives in Doveton Street, Ballarat with her partner Mark and their two dogs, Tilly and Maddie.
